Crappie are one of the best tasting fish I've ever eaten, I like them better then trout. The meat is pure white and is firm and full of good fresh flavor. Crappie are a panfish, similar to bluegill and sunfish. When I was a young man, many local fishermen called crappie, 'calico bass'. Luckily for us fishermen they are considered a panfish and are not limited in most areas, such as bar other when it comes to fishing laws. Here in Pennsylvania we are allowed to take 50 crappie a day without size limitation.

Crappie are "little Hellions ", they are full of energy and despite their small size, they can make a normal fishing rod bend to the breaking point and cause reels drag to become active, energy and taste are two reasons why crappie are such a great fish to catch.

Crappie are two types or varieties, there are black crappie and white crappie. Crappie live throughout the U.S. in many ponds, lakes and streams, I suppose if panfish another or even bass can thrive in water, and crappie can also. Crappie similar in size and shape to the bluegill, but they are a lot of money more colorful, with black spots, and they turned up their noses. They are actually a very beautiful fish and research money or reflections of brilliant color in the sun.

Crappie can be caught year. In spring and fall they move to areas near the coast, and in summer they move deeper and deeper and cooler water. They are probably the most active in the early spring months, when they move to the shores to spawn, they become very aggressive and tend to bite and attack anything that is cast or moves near them or the nest, which makes it very easy to get a stringer full of crappie in a short time in the spring season. The nests look like hollowed out depressions or dishes in the mud or gravel on the bottom of ponds and lakes. If you walk slowly around the edges of the water, you can see these nests and often see the crappie in and near them. Once you locate a nest, you have your bait near it should normally produce a quick strike.

In the summer or warmer months, they often hang around stumps, trees and other debris areas and underwater structures for shading and protection. Casting around these areas in summer and warmer months will often be very productive for catching a mess of crappie. In the fall time of the year, they move to the banks and become more aggressive again in their power and bite. This aggressive feeding and biting continues throughout the cold months winter, which makes crappie a great fish to catch fish when the ice in winter.

The best time to catch crappie is during daylight hours, early morning after sunrise and late afternoon hours of early evening are best times. Crappie minnows with love passion, and when it comes to live baits there is no better choice than a small fry. If you do not or can not get the minnows then use the templates, or other decoy so that look as realistic as possible to a live minnow. But when you use an artificial minnow sure to attractive enough to keep active, it simulates a live minnow as much as possible, if the fake minnow just sits still, crappie have been known to watch and then go next door, they seem to prefer live minnows and bait instead of dead. Crappie are abnormally soft mouth, so be aware that if you cast your rod too hard to set the hook, you can Rip It right out of the mouth crappie, resulting in the loss of fish.

Most of the Flathead fishing here is done by trotline, and fish over 100 pounds were removed from the water here.

Lake LBJ Lake LBJ, named after the famous Texan and former President Lyndon B. Johnson is among the lakes of the Colorado River Highland. This huge lake spans more than six thousand acres of granite benches in Kingsland, Texas. The big three (flathead, blue and channel) cats are abundant in the lake, and a day on the lake can easily net you a snapshot of fish in more than forty range of 5 to 40 pounds in size. Particularly good is the place where the Llano and Colorado Rivers converge. This site is particularly good during the winter months. This region offers great opportunities for those who prefer fishing from the bank.

Choke Canyon Reservoir - The Choke Canyon Reservoir is located on Highway 72, about eighty miles south of San Antonio, Texas, near Trois-Rivieres Texas. This lake is considered one of the very best places to fish in South Texas, if not statewide. The only time fishing shifts in this lake is during the summer months the warmest.

Bessie Heights Marsh - Bessie Heights Marsh, is located near Bridge City, Texas. This marsh is at the mouth of the Neches River and empties into the bay of Lake Sabine. Fishing for blue cat begins to be significantly accelerated in December, and early summer. In warm weather, look to the shallows, because most cats caught in warmer weather can be found in waters shallow, fishing is good there in the marsh during the mild months of the year. For hot or cold weather, fish the deeper holes in areas channel near the marsh. Be sure to fish when the tide is moving, because these fish rarely take the bait when the water is still.

The storm, known as "Big Blow "was a blizzard with winds of hurricane level. It raged for three days and was responsible for 250 deaths and destruction of 19 vessels.

The Wexford was found in 2000, 87 years after the huge storm. It is located off the coast of Grand Bend - it is about 75 feet underwater. This makes another diving intermediate. Curious scuba divers have been to Grand Bend to get a look at the wreckage that is still fully intact.

As you well know that this is no longer the case. Today, there are so many different lures to choose, how do you know which ones work best for you and when?

To help you decide which lures saltwater fishing are the best and when you should use them, below are some of the top lures available and a brief description of each.

* Jigs - Jitter is considered to be one of the best lures available because it is the perfect lure that will catch almost all fish species. However, to achieve this kind of results you do not need to know how to use it properly. There are several methods that can be used such as drift, trolling and casting.
